Welcome to my world (wide web, that is)!
I sang that song in an audition for high school choir, about the same time I wrote my first 'song.' Since then, I have written about 150 songs in a variety of styles, including Country, Folk, Pop/AC and R&B.
I am primarily a lyricist and do not perform, so I'm not locked into a specific category or sound. I match singers and musicians to the style I want for a certain song, then leave it to their interpretation. I produce most of my local recordings, but I have gotten some excellent mail-order demos from Los Angeles (Sunny Hilden) and Nashville (The Song Cellar).
Highlights of my musical activities:
- Member Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI); have attended their workshops with Paul Craft, Hugh Prestwood, Rivers Rutherford and Steve Seskin.
- Member TAXI; 10 songs forwarded.
- Durango Songwriters Expo five times since 1997; met numerous music reps and songwriters.

- 3rd place Unisong 2000 for lyrics, '65 On 66, title cut of my 3-song CD.
- New Mexico Music Awards: Best Promotional Concept (1989) for 10-inch picture record featuring a song I wrote for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta; Best Production - Country (1995).
- ABC affiliate station, KOAT-TV, used my ballooning song, 'Watching The World Go By,' during their coverage of the 1987-89 Balloon Fiestas. Did interviews for that and a song I wrote about the homeless, 'On The Street.' Also interviewed me during Route 66 Anniversary Celebration, July 2001.
- Visited Nashville 1997.
- Attended 1987 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
- Took a music business course, Doing Music and Nothing Else, in 1996.
- Wrote stories and concert reviews for a New Mexico publication, The Micline, early '90s.
Route 66 Magazine published one of my stories in their Summer 2001 and 2002 issues. I enjoy writing songs and stories; just wish I could make money at it! I'm looking for a publishing deal and collaborators. Besides music, I enjoy car shows and auto racing, comedy and nostalgia.
Thanks for visiting my website; hope to have more highlights soon.
- Alan
